Buying from Japan for clients in the UAE

Some of the most interesting pieces in Japan never leave the country: they sit in Tokyo's reuse shops, in store-only releases, in shops that do not ship abroad. I buy them for you in person and send them to the UAE.

What clients in the UAE ask me for

  • Branded bags, watches and accessories from Tokyo’s reuse shops. Japan’s second-hand market for branded goods was about „220 billion in 2024 (Japan’s Ministry of the Environment), and much of that stock never appears online abroad. I check each piece in person and send you photographs and the shop’s price before you commit.
  • Japan-only and store-only releases. Items sold only in Japanese shops, at pop-ups and events, or by lottery where the terms allow it.
  • Gifts that cannot be bought outside Japan. Kitchen knives, ceramics, lacquerware and stationery, chosen with you on a video call.

How it works for you

  1. Send me a link, a photo or a description by WhatsApp or email.
  2. I reply within one business day with one total: the shop’s price, my fee, shipping and processing.
  3. If you want to see it first, I walk the shop with you on a video call.
  4. For branded items, an independent service can authenticate the piece; I pass on its written result.
  5. I ship to the UAE with tracking, by Japan Post or an express courier such as DHL, and declare the real contents and value.

Shipping and import to the UAE (as of October 2026)

  • Japan Post’s acceptance table of 15 October 2026 lists airmail, surface mail and EMS to the United Arab Emirates as accepted, though it still warns of delays on some routes. For high-value pieces I usually recommend an express courier.
  • The UAE charges customs duty (5% for most goods) and 5% VAT on imports. These are paid on arrival and are not part of my quote.
  • I do not send alcohol, medicines or anything that needs a permit in the UAE.

What it costs

  • Personal shopping: 25% of the first „30,000 of goods, 20% from „30,000 to „100,000, and 15% above that. On a „1,000,000 piece the fee is „156,500.
  • Shop visit or video walk-through: €28 (about „5,000) per shop, no purchase needed.
  • Private buyer: „165,000 a month (3-month minimum) for clients who buy every month, including auction sites and marketplace apps.
  • Authentication by an independent service: „4,300.
